Welcome to Six for Dinner. This is an activity for members of the HomeOwners Association. You must be a member of the HOA to participate, so please ensure your dues are up to date. For those new to this social event, here is a brief explanation of how this activity is run: In each two-month period, groups of six will meet in the home of a host who provides the main meal and beverages. The guests will provide either the appetizer and salad, or bread and dessert.
There are links in this message for the rotation schedule for each two-month period of the first half of 2012, the list of participants including their addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses. You will dine with two different couples during each of the three periods. Each couple will be host only once in three sessions (dinners).
Hosting dinner is an important commitment—you must fulfill this responsibility. The Host is responsible for contacting the guests by the first of the month and setting a mutually convenient date during that two-month period. Be persistent in contacting the other couples and organizing the event! You may be as creative as you wish with planning the gathering—hold it on any day of the week and have any type of dining experience. Sunday brunch, patio/deck dinners and pontoon boat picnics are some variations from a regular at-home dinner that have been successful. A phone confirmation, by the host in the week before dinner is recommended (sometimes people forget.)
We do not have a substitute list, so if at short notice any couple cannot attend a dinner, we suggest that you invite anyone from the Village you would like. In that case you would not be held to the HOA membership list. Also, it is possible that if the host has out of town guests, some dinners might actually have more than six individuals enjoying the company and the meal.
We have had some complaints that some people never get called by their host. This is not in the spirit of the program. If you have not been contacted by your host by the fifth of the month, feel free to contact them and suggest dates. You may also contact them early if you might have your own scheduling difficulties. Dinners should be held in the period listed, but could run over to the next period if necessary. It would not be good to let it carry on too long. Remember, if you are the host, you are committed to having the dinner group.
Please note that this is a social group and not a forum for your religious or political viewpoints. Other than in the event of an emergency, it is not appropriate to cancel the meal when you are host, or change the format as we have outlined. If you have any issues that you cannot work out with the other couples, you may call Maggie or Bette for assistance.
The HOA would like to include pictures of our dining experiences on the website, so if you take pictures, please forward them to Linda Robitaille This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
